On the morning of September 6, 2023, Highlands Coffee successfully organized the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the International Standard Coffee Roasting Plant Project, located in Phu My II Industrial Zone, Ba Ria Vung Tau province. This significant event marks an important milestone in Highlands Coffee’s development journey, as it puts Vietnamese roasted and ground coffee on the world map. The project also reaffirms our commitment to bringing even better coffee experiences to customers in the future. This achievement is the result of the dedication, belief, and wholehearted dedication of all our staff with the desire and mission to “Bring the best of Vietnam to the world.”
We are honored and excited to share the first and most special information about this fantastic project with everyone.
SCALE: With the aim of becoming the leading large-scale coffee roasting plant in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and Vietnam, this project has been invested nearly 500 billion VND by the Board of Directors for construction and investment in highly modern equipment. The plant is located on a site with a total area of nearly 24,000 m2, with an initial operating capacity of nearly 10,000 tons of coffee per year. In subsequent stages, the capacity can reach up to 75,000 tons of coffee per year.
STANDARDS & TECHNOLOGY: The plant is equipped with a modern, closed production line that meets the FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and HACCP food safety standards. It applies Lean manufacturing and 6 sigma models to improve productivity, reduce costs, and save time.
With these world-class technologies, Highlands Coffee affirms its pioneering position in the production of high-quality Vietnamese roasted and ground coffee and meets international standards.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: In particular, the plant will be built with strict environmental protection requirements, aiming to achieve certifications such as Gold LEED Certification for “green architecture” according to international standards, BRC (British Retailers Consortium) certification for ensuring food safety in machinery and wastewater treatment according to government regulations, ensuring hygiene and safety for the environment and people. The plant will install solar energy equipment based on Japanese and Swiss machine technology to reduce costs and alleviate the national power grid. Additionally, it is one of the major plants in Vietnam participating in the sustainable coffee project from harvesting to finished products (Global coffee platform).
