The day-to-day activities

This position contributes to Highlands success by providing planning, project coordination in new store or renovation construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in delivering the Highlands experience in our stores. Supports PM in coordinating the construction execution so that projects are completed on time, on quality and under budget. Models and acts in accordance with Highlands guiding principles.

  • Key Accountabilities:
    Develops and manages budgets consistent with timeline requirements for small to medium-scale new store development or renovation projects. Develops scope of work consistent with operation needs and budget allowances. Oversees project scheduling, bid negotiations and GC relationships.
  • Manages and monitors project schedules within budget guidelines, progress and costs to ensure projects are completed on time and effectively. Maintains, adjusts and updates project plans as needed. Consolidates, communicates and manages all issues and risks affecting the project. Communicates project status to project participants and stakeholders accurately and on time.
  • Manages the construction phase of the development process. Prepares possession of tenant spaces according to company guidelines. Monitors general contractor and vendor performance during construction build-out phase. Maintains established construction schedules to allow store to open on time. Oversees ordering and tracking of materials and equipment. Visits job site regularly to perform due diligence and monitor quality. Addresses concerns and maintains consistent follow-up on any outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate/alignment with the permitting and approval phase of the store development process and ensures all proper approvals have been received prior to initiated possession or construction phase.
  • Oversees contractor and vendor performance during construction phase through site visits and report review. Maintains relationships with cross-functional to ensure seamless store openings.
  • Support Sr Project Manager in GC pre-qualifications process and training. Ensures company’s contract policies are followed.
  • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization. Supports regional network development team by providing technical and function training to all members. Supports development efforts by working closely with other departments to determine more effective processes and tools.
  • Supports Network Development and Operations goals by participating and contributing in planning and strategy meetings for the market. Plans and manages construction processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.

Job requirements

Education/ Training Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in related field, BS Construction Engineer / Construction Management from a nationally recognized University, English language is a must

Experience

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience as Construction Project Coordinator
  • Experience in working with a construction team in a multi-unit retail or restaurant environment (1 years)
  • Costing and BOQ (1 years)

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of construction systems
  • Strong knowledge of commercial evaluation metrics
  • Knowledge of applicable departmental or business unit practices and requirements
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Experience in Budgeting and planning is an advantage
  • Experience in Cost Analysis & Evaluation is an advantage
